Instructor Moving

My flight instructor is moving to Australia. She’s going there to tour the country and to see what it’s like living there. I’m really going to miss her. I have had her as an instructor the longest out of my other 4. We had a good time flying together, too. I have logged 21.6 hours with her in the air. That’s just about 2/3 of my hours in my entire log book. I hope to have her as an instructor again when she returns home. I wish her a wonderful time in Australia.

There Is Everything to Talk About

Well… in 6 days I’m back in school. I’m so exited to see all my friends again. Then after some time, I’m back on holidays again… WHAT?!! I’m going to Disneyland. I’m in school for a hand full of days then I’m off. Weird. We are flying on a Boeing 737-600, WestJet. Speaking of that… on Flight Simulator I’m flying a 737-600, WestJet from CYEG-CYYC (Edmonton to Calgary). That’s a blast because I’ve flown in the real thing before. Here’s a picture of the 737-600 cockpit.

A couple of weeks ago I got to be in a British magazine called, “Pilot Magazine”. It was hard trying to find that magazine all over Edmonton. I have an article in there about my blog and a picture of me in a real Boeing 737-800 cockpit.

Something else I want to point out, is that I encourage you to check out some of the older blogs I’ve done. I also encourage you to let other people know about my blog. Thanks!

2.6 Hours In 1 Day

Today the 16th of August, I flew for 2.6 hours. My instructor and I flew to CZVL or Villenuve and did about 7-10 circuts. The weather was AMAZING for flying. We flew for 1.2 hours then came back to the Edmonton City Centre Airport or CYXD to have a break, then checked the weather and left again for 1.4 hours. On the second flight we flew to CZVL or Villenuve again and did 7-10 circuts, but that time we did overshoots and simulated an engine failure. When I flew, the winds were at 270@2kts or 270 degrees at 2km. The clouds were low, but high enough to fly.

The Runway Closure

Well… the Edmonton City Centre (CYXD) just recently closed the 16 and 34 runway. I’m NOT happy! On the runway there is a big X sign. It’s on the 16 side. The ILS is also gone (for 16 and 34). Tommorrow the 12th of August I might be flying. (Depends on the weather). I also want to thank my grandparents, uncle, and my auntie for giving me flying money. It’s very expensive to fly, especially when you always have an instructor beside you that needs to be paid as well.

Sorry about not doing a blog the day before I left for vacation. I forgot. My vacation was so much fun!…… On flight simulator, I’m doing flight plans. It’s alot of fun and a great learning experience. I fly the Learjet 45. I fly from CYXD to CYBW (Edmonton City Centre Airport, Alberta t0 Spring Bank by Calgary, Alberta). It will usually take about 1 hour and 15 mins. I felt great after flying there. It’s like a real accomplishment.

On Wednesday I’m going on vacation to Calgary, Alberta for 3 nights and 4 days. We are going to the Calgary Zoo; Canmore, Alberta, and relaxing at the hotel. I wish I could fly there but, my dad insists he drives his Honda Van there ……… typical dads. I will be doing another blog about flying before I go.

On July 23rd I got to fly to Vernon, British Columbia in Canada. I flew from the Villenuve airport about 20 miles west of Edmonton. The airplane the passengers, pilots and I flew in was a Cessna Citation 501. I hopped into the business jet and flew to to Vernon in an hour. We flew at 39,000ft in the air. That’s high. I had a potty break and then we left right away. I got in to the airplane and the pilots said, “ Hop into the right seat in the cockpit”. I said, “ Okay”. Then the pilot said, “ Put the head set on”. Again I said, “Yes”. He then explained to me what we were going to do. He told me that we would taxi to the end of the end of the runway, then I should hold the brakes for a short field take-off, and then put full thrust. ” When I say pull back, you pull back.” Then it all happened…. I was flying a CESSNA CITATION 501!!!!!!!!!! So I flew for an hour and 10 mins. back to Villenuve Airport. I got to log 1.3 in my log book!!!! Crazy stuff. It’s all 100% true. My Trip to Vernon, British Columbia (Part 1 of 2)

My dad called me from his work and told me that I’m going to fly in a Cessna Citation Eagle 2 501 (a business jet) to Vernon, British Columbia in Canada. It’s about an hour flight there and back. I also get to sit in the cockpit on the way back for a while. I’m so excited to go! Look forward to my next blog (Part 2 of 2). It will be about my trip there and how much fun it was.

How I’m Doing

I’m doing great!!! I just came back from camp in Evansburg (West of Edmonton about 50km). It was so much fun! I brought my friend Ben there and he had alot of fun, too. We got to go tubing in the Pembina River. I haven’t worked lately because I was at camp. I get to work every Saturday for the rest of the summer at the Edmonton Flying Club, if the weather holds up. I have my next lesson and flight July the 19th.

My sister Casia had a garage sale at her house these last few days and I did help out at that after I got home. My sister Tatianna bought me Hot Tamales. (She must have missed me…) They are so good! I think they only sell them in Canada. I have also downloaded a Piper Tomahawk for Flight Simulator X. A special thanks to my dad for my blog and to Bruce for the good 50 Pilot’s Magazines. Bruce wrote a long kind comment to my dad. Thanks, Bruce.
